For over two years now, we’ve been directly involved with a Digital Transformation in one of the world’s largest banks. The bank faced significant challenges in decision-making, communication, and overall operational efficiency.
Decision latency was high, leading to delays in milestone delivery and regulatory commitments. Additionally, there was a lack of visibility into progress and impediments, which hindered effective problem resolution.
We co-designed our approach with the client, allowing for a more relevant, and therefore adoptable, new operating model across 5 pillars within the business. We employed 3 stages of adoption ("Crawl", "Walk", and "Run") to ensure that the implementation of the operating model aligned with the organisation's readiness and provided a progressive pathway for success.
Very soon after we started “Crawl” we noticed that the morale and motivation of the teams had changed, as they could see the immediate results of organising themselves within the structure of the new operating model. After just a few months in, decision latency was reduced by 83%, saving £5m per year in a single pillar.
Our team were able to come in as external capability and remain focused on the transformation outcomes, as opposed to the deadlines and deliverables, which were the primary focus of the teams executing the work.
